You’re My Obsession: Photographers and Artists, Keeping It Real

Neil Krug

Wow. There are so many talented artists and photographers in the world that I can’t believe I ever get any work done. Seriously, I could look at art and photography ALL DAY LONG.

Neil Krug is an L.A. based photographer that I’m completely loving right now.

I even selected one of his photographs for the cover of my inspiration board for genuineMIX.

In case you’re curious, genuineMIX is the NEW NAME of my consulting business. More on that when the redesign is done.

You can see more of Neil’s awesome work in his Flickr photostream.

Jewelry by Moorea Seal

Moorea Seal lives in Seattle. I hope she doesn’t think it’s creepy that I’m pretty sure we should be best friends. Just look at the beautiful jewelry that she designs. Look at her Pinterest boards!

Plus, I love this post. She talks about bringing herself back into her blog. She’s going to start writing more about her personal journey again. As I wrote in my comment on her post, I think that when artists and writers put themselves into their business that it creates even more loyalty and interest in supporting their work. When I purchase things made by people that I feel like I know (or actually do know) it means so much more. Connecting the personal to the business is huge. We’re business owners and writers and artists and we’re REAL PEOPLE. And that’s awesome.

I can’t wait to see her handbag line!

New York Film Festival Posters

The 50th New York Film Festival just wrapped yesterday, and one of my favorite photographers did the poster this year – Cindy Sherman.

This slideshow highlights some of the past posters created by artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, and another great photographer, Gregory Crewdson. You HAVE to look at the one by Saul Bass. I couldn’t find a decent size to share with you, but I love his work and I really want you to see it!

Noa Azoulay-Sclater of Feather Love Photography

Just because my Bella Umbrella project has ended doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop sharing photographers who do unique, artistic wedding photography when I see them.

Noa Azoulay-Sclater – Self-portrait

Noa Azoulay-Sclater of Feather Love Photography falls into that category. She’s not a “wedding photographer.” She’s an artist who shoots interesting weddings in addition to other amazing things.

Noa also teaches artist and photography workshops (I can’t even begin to imagine how inspiring they must be), and writes words from the heart that you might not want to hear but should.

2013 Geometric Series Desk Calendar by Hello Maupoo

I’m not sure that this has ever happened before. I just found a new obsession while working on my obsession list!

Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused while I’m working on this list. Sometimes I end up working on one obsession then clicking off into an internet wonderland. Other times I take a break from the post and check my email or Twitter. I just checked Twitter and clicked on a link to check out my latest follower’s blog and found this AWESOME geometric print 2013 desk calendar in her Etsy shop. Obviously I need to clean up my desk and make room for this Hello Maupoo calendar.
