You’re My Obsession | July 11-17, 2011

NOTE: This week’s obsession image removed by designer who couldn’t stop obsessing about how much she hated this week’s obsession image.

1. Flavors.me
Good design and advertising will convince someone who doesn’t need another web presence that they need just one more. At least that’s what happened to me when I saw this video for Flavors.me.

So, I saw it and thought it about it all week. Then I made a Flavors.me page. Then I thought, why do I have this page? I don’t need it. Plus, most of the cool stuff is in the paid version anyway. And I don’t need it.

I deleted my Flavors.me page. Then I showed Drew this cool video, because even if I don’t need the page, I like the video. I swear when I was watching it, it made me want the freaking page again! Seriously! Even though I had already created, decided I didn’t need, and deleted the page!

As of this writing, I do not have a Flavors.me page. I cannot promise what will happen in the next 24 hours or week.

2. Seattle Picks
Many years ago when I worked with my friend Brooke (okay, fine, only a couple of weeks ago), she told me about this cool weekly newsletter called Seattle Picks. It’s published every Friday and provides information about Seattle shopping, restaurants, services, and fun stuff to do in the city. I love getting my weekly list! And guess what? If you’re in Portland, they’ve got Portland Picks just for you.

3. The Curiosity Shoppe
I haven’t been to San Francisco since my 38th birthday in 2007. I love that city and must go again soon. Next time I’m there, I really want to check out The Curiosity Shoppe. Have any of you guys been there? Is it super awesome?  The owners, Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, seem really cool and fun and they have fantastic taste. I love their selection of letterpress cards and books and magazines. Check out their Smarts & Crafts blog for more of their goings on.

4. Elephant Magazine

Can you be obsessed with something that you have yet to finish? Yes. Yes, you can. I recently found out about Elephant Magazine and downloaded the last two issues on my iPad. I’ve started the first issue and really like what I’ve read so far, but I’ve just been too stretched for time to be able to finish reading it! I HAVE to at least get through the first issue this week. Please kick my ass if I don’t.

5. Fuck Yeah 60s Fashion
I really don’t need to elaborate here. It’s a Tumblr site (and Facebook page) that features incredible photos of 60s fashion. See examples from the site below.

Okay, in honor of my German friend Barbara who has been visiting me, tschüss for now! Funny story. Barbara and I have been using that word when we say goodbye for almost three years now. It was only yesterday that I learned that we were using an actual word and not saying “cheers” in an f-ed up way. See? You really do have to read the entire post so you don’t miss any of the good stuff. :)

Okay, I really am going now. Tune in this week for Pinspiration, Blogspiration, “Hi, Nathaniel’s Mom!”, Art I ♥, ________ in Seattle, and more!
