Moody abstract landscape painting with soft, flowing textures and earthy tones, conveying a serene and introspective atmosphere.

Art Commissions

Custom art commissions are unique experiences that allow you to be part of the creative process. It’s an opportunity to bring your ideas to life through my visual language, creating a meaningful connection to your painting.

I currently offer two types of custom art commission experiences for you:

BESPOKE and SOUVENIR.

BESPOKE

BESPOKE art commissions are inspired by my existing abstract paintings. This experience is ideal for those who connect with a particular work of art but wish to adjust the color palette, size, or composition to better suit their space.

It’s also perfect for anyone who has fallen in love with a painting that has already been sold or for interior designers working with commercial clients who want a curated collection based on my existing works.

Whether you’re looking to adapt an existing piece or create a new version of something you love, the BESPOKE experience allows you to bring my art into your space in a way that feels personal and customized.

SOUVENIR

The SOUVENIR experience is based on your most cherished travel memories. You’ll specify the place and time you’d like to remember —whether it’s a special vacation, a beloved destination, or a cherished moment in time—and I will translate your memories into a painting that brings that experience to life through color and form.

Similar to the BESPOKE process, we’ll discuss your preferred color palette, and I’ll provide examples of my work for you to choose the abstract paintings style that resonates most with you.

After our consultation, I’ll create your very own SOUVENIR — a custom artwork that captures the essence of your personal travel experience.

FAQs

How do I commission a painting from you?

Complete the form below to get the process started. If you have any questions, you can reach me at melanie@melaniebiehle.com.

How much does a commissioned painting cost?

The cost of commissioned artwork depends on a variety of factors including the size of the artwork, the number of paintings you’d like to commission, and your shipping location. You can get an idea of my pricing by looking at the cost of my current work for sale. Additionally, my commissioned paintings include a custom art fee due to the unique collaborative nature of the project. My minimum commission cost is $500, not including tax (if in Washington state) or shipping — this is for a 12×12 or 11×14 inch painting. You will receive a quote for the project that you are considering once you submit the information below.

Do I have to pay for the entire painting upfront?

No. 50% of the total fee is due upfront before any work begins on the project. This fee is non-refundable, even if you decide to cancel the commission. The remainder of the fee is due before the final painting is shipped or delivered to you. When I’ve completed your painting, I’ll send you an image of the final piece. Once you give me the okay that you’re ready for me to deliver or mail it to you, you’ll send me your final payment and I’ll prepare it for shipping.

How long will it take to get my commissioned painting?

This can vary depending on my current schedule and the size and complexity of your commission. Typically you’ll be able to receive your commissioned painting within eight weeks of the start date.

What happens if I don’t like it? Can I return the painting?

Due to the custom, collaborative nature of the projects, commissioned paintings cannot be returned. However, I take steps to ensure that we are going in the right direction along the way.

For instance, after you schedule your commission and pay your deposit we will have a consultation via phone or email to discuss the project and make sure we are on the same page visually. During the creation process I will send you one or two work-in-progress shots. Feedback on the piece is welcome during this stage and up to two revisions can be made. Once a painting reaches the final image stage any further changes or edits will require extra fees.

Note: It is very uncommon for me to receive requests for more than one revision. In fact, I usually don’t receive any revision requests. Most of my clients are thrilled with their paintings!

Let’s create beautiful art together.

Nancy Bohling

“My husband and I love Melanie’s work. We have been privileged to collect multiple pieces including a triptych that we commissioned. Melanie thoughtfully and creatively worked with us to create a unique piece that was perfect for our space. We are excited to welcome to our home a newly purchased work and can’t wait for it to be installed!”
