I first learned about Josef Albers’ Interaction of Color when I took an abstract painting course at Gage Academy of Art. When I got home that day I started searching online and found the Interaction of Color iPad app. Being the color freak that I am, I knew that this app would bring me hours of enjoyment.
Study the plates and use the interactive features to see how the same color can look different depending on the backgrounds. It has a similar effect of working with cut and colored paper like Albers did.
You can also create your own color palettes and studies to save and share with others.
It’s SO cool. I admit I haven’t read much of the text yet, which is obviously important, but I’ve had so much fun seeing how colors interact with each other that I don’t feel like reading when I open it. Enjoy! xo
