This morning I was reassessing the goals I’ve created for myself on Go Mighty. I started making these lists on my own blog in 2011, then switched to using Go Mighty before I attended Camp Mighty last year. Since I’m going again NEXT WEEK (huh! That was fast!), I needed to update them.
First of all, I looked through my sketchbook that I’ve been using for collage work and noticed that I met my goal of creating six mixed media pieces by December 31, 2013! I didn’t even realize that I’d already done that many. I’ve been working on them at night, usually while watching TV, and I’ve loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to make more. Here’s one more.
I really do believe that there is a bit of magic involved when you name your priorities, write them down, and share them.
It’s not just about accountability, putting them out there for all to see. Typically I’m super self-motivated and way more forceful with myself about completing my own goals than any external taskmaster would be.
It’s not totally about the psychological aspects of writing them down either. I know that if you name your goals you’re more attuned to them so you’re more likely to seek out or notice opportunities that align with them. That’s part of it for sure. But there’s something else that just feels…I don’t know, MAGICAL, when you announce, write, or share the things that you really want to do in your lifetime.
Here are my Go Mighty goals. Some are pie-in-the-sky, some are, “Melanie, you just need to sit down and make time to do this,” and some are big but feel attainable. The two that have check marks beside them are complete!
How do you make sure you’re doing the things that are aligned with the life that you want to be living? Do you write your goals down? Do you even create goals for yourself? I’d love to hear how you get closer to the things that you want for yourself.
If one of your goals have to do with selling your art, photographs, or handmade items, take a look at Share Your Story, Sell Your Work. I’d love to help you reach your goals!
