It’s taken me a bit to get to the summer issue of Anthology Magazine, but it’s definitely worth the wait. I’m on page 71 and have already written tons of “note to self”s and bookmarked things to scope out later.
One of my favorite articles in the issue is the Conversation with Louisiana artist Rebecca Rebouché. I’m completely smitten with her work.
Here’s some of the work that Rebecca has done with Anthropologie. She’s been collaborating with the company since 2010. I’m in love with her Enchanted Forest Mural!
And no, I don’t know her. Not EVERYONE from Louisiana knows each other, even though we might seem like we do when we first meet. I’d love to meet her in person and see her studio though. It looks amazing.
There’s a fantastic video of Rebecca on the Anthropologie website that allows us to peek into her studio and learn a little about her process in her own lovely southern voice. Here are some beautiful stills from the shoot. You HAVE to go and watch it!
When I tag a blog post with “inspired by” that means that the person, place, image, or work that I share directly inspired me to create or change something in my own life. While I adore Rebecca’s work, studio, and southern charm (and OMG, you guys…she’s also GORGEOUS!), I’m especially inspired by her process and vision.
In the Anthology article, Rebecca talked about her transition from graphic designer to full-time artist. She shared her creative ritual that she’s started her day with since 2007 – a three-page journal entry where she writes down her vision, dreams, and goals to attract them to her.
Daily journaling to remind myself of my own creative goals, dreams, and most perfect life is the habit that I’ve adopted from Rebecca. I started today.
This morning before doing any other work, I spent a few minutes jotting down the creative professional goals I’ve been thinking about lately. These two rose to the top.
- I want to collaborate on a creative, profitable project with a mix of talented artists, designers, writers, and photographers. That’s right, I said profitable. Creative people have to make money too! We can’t eat our paints!
- I want to continue to work with clients that inspire me just as much as I inspire them.
If we want to change our lives, we have to know what we want. Get specific.
Daily journaling or using a vision board to remind you of what’s important to you can help you create the life that you want most.
In addition to my brand new creative journaling practice, I have a vision/inspiration/mood board that I keep right over my desk. I add and take away from it as my life and goals change, or when I get tired of the images.
Do any of you have a deliberate practice that you do to help you make sure you’re focusing on the things that matter most to you? I’d love to hear about it. Looking forward to hearing your tips! xoxo
