An Italian Honeymoon: Capri

Welcome to the second installment of An Italian Honeymoon! For the next five Fridays we’ll be visiting Amalfi, Positano, Florence, Siena, and Rome. We started with Sorrento, which was our home base for the Amalfi Coast part of our trip, and today we’re taking a hydrofoil over to the small island of Capri. Taking the hydrofoil was the only time I ever felt seasick in my life!

When I visited Capri in my mind, the only things I saw were Audrey Hepburn, the Faraglioni, and the memory of my friend Jessica sitting across from me at work saying something like, “Oh my God, we HAVE to go to Capri,” as she scrolled through beautiful Amalfi Coast websites.

Visitors to this island LOVE to get their shop on. Not that I’m anti-shopping or anything, but there was a moment when I was walking down a beautiful stone street and found myself surrounded by designer stores and thought, “If I wanted this I could have just gone to Rodeo Drive. It’s closer to Seattle.”

While Capri wasn’t my favorite part of the trip it was still stunning, even in the rain. Drew and I experienced our very favorite pizza there (which I didn’t photograph because I hadn’t received the blogger memo yet) and I loved riding up the funicular railway and looking out at the lemon trees over the island.

I hope you enjoyed this excursion. Next Friday we’re going to Amalfi! Have a great weekend. xoxo

Yes, we took photos like this.

P.S. Upon reexamining this photo four years after it was taken, either Drew really didn’t want to kiss me or he was too focused on holding the camera. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt…this time.
