First we were in Sorrento. Then we took a day trip to Capri. This Friday we’re visiting Amalfi for the day!
I’m not sure why I decided to put Capri before Amalfi, because Amalfi was our first day trip from Sorrento. We took a bus along one of the, if not the, most beautiful road I’ve ever been on in my life. I looked out the window and waited, knowing that soon I would be able to see the views of the Mediterranean that I’d been obsessed with for several years.
Yay!
Once we got there I was happy to be off the bus! It was beautiful, but so twisty.
After our photo shoot on the dock, we set off to explore the town. If I remember correctly, this was our first full day in Italy, not counting the day we spent playing Planes, Trains, and Automobiles from Seattle to JFK to Rome to Sorrento.
Drew and I are similar in the way that we travel in that we’re not necessarily going to visit the must-see attractions listed in guidebooks. We’re much more interested in taking our time, strolling around neighborhoods, stopping for coffee, and people watching.
And eating, of course. I think that Drew was chatting with this man about the place we were going for lunch that day.
After lunch, things got a little weird because Drew started feeling really sick and dizzy. I was really worried about him, and felt kind of scared since we were so far from home. We made it back down to our bus stop to head back to Sorrento and by the time we got there he felt a lot better. It was probably the lack of sleep since we’d been up traveling for over 24 hours the day before.
