Have you guys seen the series of Slim Aarons photography books published by ABRAMS? There are four volumes of fabulous photographs. The last one, Slim Aarons: La Dolce Vita, was released in November.
I’m most familiar with his poolside photography. It screams California style to me, even when some were actually shot in Acapulco.
Volume three in the series is Poolside with Slim Aarons. I’m pretty sure it would be my favorite. You know, just in case you’re looking for last minute gift ideas for me.
Not into beachwear? That’s cool. Because there are some amazing Slim Aarons shots that have nothing to do with dipping your toes into a chlorine blue pool. This photo of Truman Capote in his Brooklyn Heights apartment is one of my favorites, and I LOVE monocle lady.
For more of his work, you can check out Once Upon a Time and A Place in the Sun, volumes one and two of the ABRAMS series.
Slim Aarons died of complications from a heart attack and stroke in the summer of 2006. He was 89 years old.
You can purchase prints of his work on Photographers Gallery.
