I learned about Creative Stuff: An Activity Book for Visual Thinkersfrom the July 2012 issue of HOW Magazine. Creative Stuff is one of their many cool graphic design publications.
I haven’t had a chance to get a copy of the book yet. Honestly, at this point I think Drew would take away my book buying card if he could. I already have so many graphic design, art, photography, and creative branding books that I haven’t made a dent in yet. I won’t even go into how many books I’m “currently reading” right now. Shh.
Creative Stuff is an activity book geared toward visual thinking. Inside these pages are things for us to do and experience – exercises, puzzles, games, and challenges – to jumpstart our creativity. It’s not just something that we read a few lines of between Twitter and Mad Men. We’re active participants.
Here’s another interesting take on visual thinking. Brian Selznick’s books The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Wonderstruck use a combination of words and images to tell their stories. Listening to and reading about his process makes me long for more time to read or experience books.

Have you used Creative Stuff or any other visual thinking exercises? I’d love to hear about them! xoxo
