Louise Dahl-Wolfe
Once upon a time there was amazing fashion photographer named Louise Dahl-Wolfe. She prepared herself for creative work by attending the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute), then went on to study design, decoration, and architecture at Columbia University.
She was a staff photographer for Harper’s Bazaar and is known for her role in “discovering” Lauren Bacall. Louise photographed her for the March 1943 cover. I love Louise.
Gala Darling and Nubby Twiglet
I’m just getting to know Gala Darling and Nubby Twiglet and I’m loving them so far. I first saw Gala at Alt Summit in January, but I didn’t know who she was and I was too overwhelmed by everything at that point to introduce myself and find out. I thought her look at The Girls with Glasses and Pinhole Press Paris party was so awesome that I had to snap a photograph of her (right) and lovely Bri from the awesome designlovefest (who I also didn’t introduce myself to! Boo!).
Not too long ago Gala and Nubby took a trip to Southern California. Made U Look Photography took some beautiful photographs of their trip that I fell in love with, like these at the gorgeous poolside shots at The Viceroy in Santa Monica.
Visit Gala’s post for the rest of these photos, plus see more from their trip here.
But wait…there’s more. Here is a fantastic polka dot post on Nubby Twiglet from this same trip, also photographed by Made U Look.
Gala and Nubby – I’m going to Alt Summit again in January and I would love to say hello to you fabulous creatures if you’re going to be there too. :)
P.S. In case you didn’t know, Kelly Wearstler designed The Viceroy. I hope I didn’t just insult you, dear readers. I just wanted to make sure that EVERYONE knows how awesome she is.
Dallas Kolotylo Photography
One of my favorite things about working with Bella Umbrella is that I get to look at gorgeous, creative wedding stuff every single day and discover new photographers that I may not have learned about otherwise. Vancouver based Dallas Kolotylo Photography is one of my latest loves via my wedding industry work, and I insist that you check out their website and blog.
Recently they shot a wedding on Orcas Island that featured some of Jodell’s gorgeous vintage umbrellas. You can see all of the awesome shots on their blog.
I love how unique their wedding photos are. They have this cool feel, and they look like they belong in Kinfolk Magazine.
Rineke Dijkstra
Sometimes I wish I lived in New York. Or at least closer to New York. Or at least that I could GO to New York whenever I wanted. If I were in New York right now I would go see the Rineke Dijkstra exhibit at The Guggenheim.
Have any of you seen it? Warning. I’m going to be jealous.
Flannery O’kafka
Are you guys familiar with Flannery O’kafka’s photography? If not, check out her portfolio immediately, then come back here.
Waiting…
I know, right?!
Flannery/Andrea has done some amazing editorial work for Babiekins and commercial work for Tannhauser that I absolutely love. Maybe someday we can hang out together in Glasgow.
You’re My Obsession will be back in its regular spot on Monday. I just couldn’t wait until next week to share these with you. :) xo
