Chicago 2012: Millennium Park

We got back from our trip to Chicago and Saugatuck on Friday night. I took tons of photos, but rather than overwhelm you with them all at once I’m going to share them in sets. First up, Millennium Park. Have any of you been here? It was my first time and one of my very favorite things about this trip.

Crown Fountain

I fell in love with Crown Fountain by Jaume Plensa. It was one of the coolest things that I’ve ever seen.

Nathaniel had an awesome time playing in the fountain, until he slipped and fell. :( He loved watching the sculpture “guys” blink. He would blink slowly to imitate them. It was pretty cute.

Note: Jaume Plensa’s other work is amazing too.

Cloud Gate

Next we visited Cloud Gate (“the bean”) by Anish Kapoor. The three of us loved it too.

Nathaniel’s Cloud Gate experience provided one of his favorite stories that he likes to tell about this trip –  the one where he saw a “guy” bump his head on the “sculpture.” Sometimes he says “cloud.”

Jay Pritzker Pavilion

When I saw the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, I immediately knew that it was designed by Frank Gehry. Love him.

Then it was time to continue on to our next stop…

The Art Institute. But that will have to wait until next time.
