Crafternoon with The Ravenna Girls

On Saturday afternoon I spent a few hours hanging out and getting crafty with The Ravenna Girls. Brianne and Danielle were awesome hostesses, and Seattle cooperated by giving us a gorgeous spring day so we could craft on the patio.

First, Danielle and Brianne set up some dye for us to try out with wooden beads.

I tried out the technique, but didn’t end up making more. I’m sure I’ll think of something awesome to make that requires one pink ombre bead. You guys are going to be so jealous.

Later, Jo showed us how to make fabric rosettes that you can attach to hair clips or a pin back. I didn’t attempt this one as I was on my second go round of trying to cut out leather for the lesson that Jenny was giving us on foiling. Spoiler alert: I still suck at crafts.

The finished product top photo below is one of Jenny’s necklaces and the bottom photo is the one I created. Mine has several layers of foil on it, each one trying to mask the mess I made of the layer underneath. I decided I’d try painting it with “pink” paint, but the resulting color with the leather and millions of layers that I put on it makes it look like I painted it with Chanel Vamp nail polish from 1994.

I might try covering up the Vamp with hot pink duct tape. Or maybe I should just let it go…

Brianne taught us how to weave our own cool neon rope bracelet. I made a pink one. This is not it.
