My Mighty Life List
Things are happening in 2012, friends. Big things. In fact, it’s time to update my Mighty Life List.
1. Make my living as a blogger/writer/photographer/designer.
Update: It’s starting. Since I’ve gotten back from Alt Summit I’ve been hired to design a fellow blogger’s business cards, have another design/blogging opportunity that I’m working on now, plus more stuff that is in the works. Exciting times!
19. Contribute to UPPERCASE
20. Contribute an article to UPPERCASE
I got to cross off number 19 last month when my Subscriber Profile was featured in the January issue. Next, I’d love to contribute an article and some photographs to the magazine!
30. Show my artwork in a gallery (coming in May 2012 here and here!)
Looks like May is art month for me, and I couldn’t be happier with the two items on the agenda so far. We’ll be making a trip down to Portland to see my sketchbook along with the other awesome entries in The Sketchbook Project 2012 World Tour. What a lovely Mother’s Day weekend that will be!
The following Saturday I’ll be attending Danielle’s Girl Crush Artist Workshop. It’s going to be such an awesome day of making art and bonding with and learning from other women artists. The mixed media piece that we make will hang in a show at Assemble Gallery & Studio. So exciting!
34. Buy a new piece of art every month for six months (in progress, one to go)
I have one more piece of art by one more artist left to go. Since there are only three more days in the month, I’d better decide fast!
Friends With Kids
I want to see Friends With Kids. Besides being one of the film’s stars, Jennifer Westfeldt wrote and directed this movie. Did you guys see Kissing Jessica Stein? She wrote and starred in that one as well.

Art I Heart: Andrea D’Aquino
I first learned about Andrea when she created this awesome cover for UPPERCASE.
Since then I have been drooling over her collages.
I’m really getting inspired to start working on collages again. The Sketchbook Project started the spark, then some work from some very inspiring women, including Andrea, have made it grow. I think having the chance to peek into the process helps too. Being able to actually see that the finished product was once scraps of paper yet to be arranged is motivating.
If you’d like to own one of Andrea’s prints, be sure to visit her online shop!
The Shape of Design
Frank Chimero has written a book called The Shape of Design and it’s scheduled to be available sometime this year. Here’s a video synopsis from the book’s Kickstarter page. It looks fantastic. Want!

Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton
Yes, I know that Sofia got a mention in last week’s list. Since I haven’t been nearly as obsessive about her as I used to be, I decided to give her a spot this week too.
One of the reasons I love Sofia so much is because she spreads her creativity throughout different mediums – photography, writing, filmmaking, fashion, and more. I guess I identify with her because there is no way that I could limit myself to one type of creative expression.
Back in October, Trendland (yep, again…Trendland is THE BEST) showed us Sofia’s 2012 Louis Vuitton Resort Collection that she collaborated on with Louis Vuitton’s studio design director Julie De Libran. Here are some of my favorite looks.
