Notes from Day Care: My Chatty, Dancy, Happy, Friendly Son

Nathaniel had a happy day. His speech is just blossoming. He wants to know what everything is and then tries to repeat it instead of just saying, “uh.” At lunch time he asked for more pears. When April started to put them on his plate he laid back in his chair, spread his arms out, and with a smile said, “Yeah.”

When I picked him up, I heard another story about Nathaniel’s fun day. He and one of his classmates were standing on top of the loft in the room and Nathaniel started dancing. Dancing to his own music in his head, because no music was playing at the time. He reached for his classmate’s hand to get her to dance with him and she loved it. They had so much fun!

Nathaniel had a happy day. He had fun playing in the motor room then came back to the classroom and played with feathers, bottles, and sticky contact paper. At circle time when I got Ellie out he got very excited, but when it was his turn to reach into her nose he wasn’t too sure he wanted to but he reached in a little ways and was excited when he pulled out a red circle.

Note from Mommy

Ellie is a craft project elephant that is filled with things like velvety red circles. When I first read this I had never heard of Ellie and had no idea what it was, so it made me laugh.

Nathaniel had a happy day. We went to explore the bike side and found that it was a lot of fun. Everyone got to wear bike helmets and there were lots of things to ride on and push around. When we left, Nathaniel had to tell the totem pole that is painted on the wall goodbye and wave goodbye to all of the bikes.

Nathaniel had a happy day. He had so much to say. A lot of what he says is in Nathaniel’s own language but a lot of it we can understand and it is soooo much fun to carry on a conversation with him.
