Sunday in Seattle: Woodland Park, Phinney Market Pub & Eatery, Fresh Flours

Last Sunday Drew, Nathaniel, and I spent the day hanging out at the playground, trying a new restaurant for lunch, and meeting Michael for coffee.

Nathaniel had a great time playing on the slide and pointing at tons of stuff for us to name at the Woodland Park playground.

Lunch time!

We tried the newly opened Phinney Market Pub & Eatery and loved it. Super friendly servers, delicious food and wine, cool wallpaper, and Tolix chairs (and stools in a gorgeous shade of yellow)…what’s not to love? Plus it’s a nice restaurant that’s also relaxing and family friendly, which is pretty important these days.

Drew and I shared the sweet potato fries with chili aioli. I had the grilled balsamic tofu with quinoa, vegetables, feta, and yellow beets. DELICIOUS. I find fowl foul, but Drew had the chicken risotto and said, “It was good.”

Next stop, coffee…and a little sweet treat.

Fresh Flours has two locations in Seattle, one in Phinney Ridge (where we were on Sunday) and a second shop in Ballard. They serve the best coffee (Stumptown…in case you didn’t know) and make a mean Nutella Brioche, among other interesting (and pretty) treats.

It didn’t take too long for Nathaniel to be tired of sitting. After all, the little guy just had to sit for lunch. So we scooped him up and headed back to the playground for round two.

Now I’m looking forward to a four day weekend! Nathaniel’s day care is closed on Tuesday, so we’re taking an extra day off.

Next week you can look forward to photos from Nathaniel’s first haircut (happening on Saturday) and his first ferry ride to Bainbridge Island.

Happy weekend, everyone! xoxo
