Art I Heart: Chris Sickels
One of the cool things that I acquired when I moved in with the love of my life is an awesome collection of children’s books. Unfortunately, I thought that The Look Book was just another one of Drew’s cool children’s books with amazing 3D illustrations, so I moved it to Nathaniel’s shelf so we could read it together sometime.
Note to self: In the future, look through the entire book before determining the shelf it belongs on. Now The Look Book is on Nathaniel’s favorite books of the moment list. If he sees it and wants to read it, I have to remember all of the pages I have to skip. It contains some dark humor and content, and isn’t meant for children. I think we’ve hidden it pretty well now, so he might not see it again until he’s 40.

My New Air Plant
I never really cared or thought much about plants. I used to love to buy flowers at Pike Place Market and put them on my table, but now I can’t even see my table, much less find room to fit a vase on it. Then I saw the cool stuff that Shane Powers is doing with West Elm when I toured their spring collection last month. Since West Elm gave me one of the cute small bubbles when I attended the press tour, I HAD to go back and get an air plant, right?
No soil. Not much water. This plant basically takes care of itself. I think I can even keep it alive. What should I name it?
Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters
Gregory Crewdson is one of my favorite photographers. He creates such amazing dramatic scenes.
I wish I was gong to SXSW so I could attend the premiere of Ben Shapiro’s new documentary about him. Thanks for the tip, UnBeige!

The Animal Alphabet
The Animal Alphabet is an iPad app by Fish the Mouse that uses cool interactive illustrations to teach kids the alphabet. Kudos to me for showing Nathaniel age-appropriate artwork!
Leslie’s Alt Summit Drawings
Do you guys read Lights and Letters by my friend Leslie? You should. She’s a fantastic writer and photographer, and she’s done a couple of awesome Alt Summit roundup drawings. Take a look at her most recent creation below and go read her post about the Collaborations panel featuring Bri, Danielle, Josyln, and Victoria.
Duh.
Yes, I know, this is my sixth in my list of five obsessions. I just felt like I needed to include a repeat in case you missed it. I have a chance to meet and interview Jonathan Adler at his SoHo studio. You can vote for me once a day until April 2nd. Please do, and tell your Twitter/Facebook/blog followers too! xo
