It’s here…sort of.
The iPad 2 ships on March 11. And although I’ve been champing at the bit to get my hands on one of these nifty little tablets, I’m going to wait.
Chad Skelton at The Vancouver Sun makes a valid point on why rabid Apple fans (like me) should wait before buying an iPad 2 if they’re thinking of using it as a e-book reader (like me). Since that is one of the main things I’ve been looking forward to, I’m going to wait until Apple settles their subscription service issues before I bow down to Steve this time.
And if they don’t, I may just get a NOOKcolor. I don’t need an iPad 2 to check out digital books from my local public library, and I don’t want to be confined to buying from iBooks if Barnes & Noble and Kindle decide to yank their iPad apps on June 30th.
So…I’ll wait. I’ll wait until Amazon and Barnes & Noble decide how they’re going to respond to Apple’s new rules. I’ll just keep waiting and waiting and waiting…again.
