I saw the news on my pal Dave’s Facebook status update this morning. The story first appeared in an Esquire blog and was refuted by Stumptown’s then owner Duane Sorenson. The Portland blog Stumped in Stumptown has provided several updates. Why all the denial/secretive weirdness over this deal? If you sold your company, just say so.
If you’re looking for ideas for a small roaster to patronize, I suggest Kings Road Cafe in Los Angeles. They’re at least second to Stumptown in terms of yumminess, if not just as good.
