It’s been awhile since I’ve made time to be very thoughtful and deliberate in my creative process. Honestly, it’s been a stressful summer. The work I did manage to complete was under pressure and not as much fun to do as it could have been. I’m in the process of getting my space back…of spending time thinking before moving full speed ahead. By increasing my meditation time. By paying attention to reacting versus acting.
I’m starting to prepare for my art show at Cherry Street Public House in November. It will be my first time to show my work during the First Thursday Art Walk in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle, and I’m excited about being part of the creative energy and revitalization that’s happening in that part of our city.
My new original painting collection is View From The Top – Aerial Views of Imaginary Landscapes. The concept was inspired by landscape aerial views like those you find on Daily Overview. I recently finished creating mood boards to get visually organized before beginning the work. I love using them to visually “think” about color palettes, takes on the concept, and different types of shapes or mark making that might be interesting in expressing the collection. It feels amazing to invest this degree of thought and deliberateness in the process.
I’ve also completed some preliminary sketches where I explored different marks and shapes.
I’m excited to continue sharing my journey with this collection! Find me on Instagram for the most current stuff.
