It’s been quite a week. This Instagram caption illustrates some of the range of emotions that I experienced after my “second mother” passed away. Before that it had been longer than usual since I had posted anything on my blog because I’ve been busy updating my website and developing a new pattern collection, this time as part of a monthly challenge in the Pattern Observer Textile Design Lab. We were asked to create an Ice Princess textile design collection inspired by Peter Pilotto‘s absolutely stunning designs in the Fall 2016 Ready-To-Wear Collection. I designed with two of my dream brands in mind – Marimekko and Missoni. You can see some of the images that I put on my mood boards here. It was inspiring to have them hanging in my workspace during the design process.
It was so much fun to develop the color palettes and create these designs! Each one of them started out as gouache paint on watercolor paper, then I edited and finalized them in Photoshop.
I hope you enjoyed viewing the collection! Manufacturers, designers, and art directors can contact me at melanie@melaniebiehle.com for purchase or licensing availability.
