Creative Process: Abstract Painting

FINAL Abstract Painting Fall 2014 by Melanie Biehle | Gage Academy of Art, Seattle

FINAL

Remember that abstract painting class I told you guys about? It’s so awesome! I wanted to share the painting that I just finished today.

I’ve loved the process of creating this piece. I was so much less in a rush to “finish.” In the past I’ve always enjoyed painting, but still felt this urge to “get it done.” That probably comes from working in so many deadline-driven environments. I truly enjoyed the process and discovery of seeing how the shapes and colors and layers came together.

Here’s what it looked like in earlier stages.
