This Instagram image is the one that started my obsession with the fashion illustrations of Diana Kuksa. Her bright, bold watercolor illustrations reeled me in and led me to her Behance profile. I loved seeing her interpretations of looks by Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, and Marni.
While you should definitely see Diana’s finished pieces, don’t discount the appeal of her work-in-progress. I may love getting a peek into her creative process that she shares on Instagram even more.
I’ve been experimenting with watercolors lately. I love how there’s an element of the unknown when you set out to mix water, pigment, and paper. I like watching the drops of paint burst out onto its neighboring color on the page. It’s helpful to see work like this in different stages. Seeing the unfinished bits and pieces of Diana’s illustrations gives me a better idea on how this type of work is put together.
