All three members of our household are huge fans of artist, author, and illustrator Oliver Jeffers. Our shelves are lined with his beautifully illustrated, amazingly creative children’s books. I love the color palettes he works with, his simple yet intricate illustration style that incorporates mixed media, the sense of humor in his writing, and the imaginative worlds that we are invited into every time he releases a new book.
While he’s best known for his children’s books, there’s another side to Oliver’s artwork. His dipped painting series is one of my favorites. I love how he covers part of the portraits with a thick layer of paint. You can explore more of Oliver’s “grown-up” art in Neither Here Nor There, a monograph of his paintings, collages, installations, and collaborative work.
