When I was collecting all of my collages together for my art show at Velouria, I noticed that I’ve drawn my inspiration heavily from fashion for quite some time now. It wasn’t really a shock. I’ve always loved the industry, even during the periods of time that I never actually wear anything other than pajamas or yoga pants. But I was surprised to see the amount of my work that had a fashion edge to it.
One my favorite fashion illustrators is René Gruau. He worked with and created advertising for many top designers including Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin, and Schiaparelli.
I love his use of white space and color, and how he sometimes expresses his concept with just slivers of an image.
