Ah, the blending of fun shoes and awesome modern home decor. Priceless.
A couple of weeks ago I got an invitation to attend the launch party celebrating two cool things: Digs one-year anniversary in their Ballard location in Seattle and Portland-based cool shoe retailer Solestruck‘s first stop on their pop-up shop tour. Seattle’s own Grey City Shoes were among the lineup as well.
While I was there I met Solestruck’s Creative Director, Ty McBride, who was super fun to talk to. Here’s what he had to say about the company, their mission, and their traveling pop-up shop.
“Solestruck has continued to grow and shift during our ten years in the market. In the last 18 to 24 months we have really shifted our goal towards world domination, in regards to all things shoes! We are one of, if not the only, exclusive shoe retailer online who also creates, designs, manufactures, distributes, wholesales and retails their goods. Alongside carrying the top brands in the footwear game (ACNE, Jeffrey Campbell, ADIDAS, Opening Ceremony, FINSK, Miista), we also create four of our own labels. This tour of US shop-in-shops is a celebration of stores and locations with amazing personal style or a respect for design. We are hitting the road to take our brands to the masses. Solestruck is like a safe-space for the shoe addicted. Regardless of if you are browsing, buying, admiring, stalking, lusting, splurging or loading up at our Black Friday mega sale—we’re a place where you can go shoe crazy without judgement. What we do is for our fans, our clients and our greater community. We work to bring you the most elevated shoe selection out there—either you like what we do, or you don’t—but either way, we can probably take up your shoe game for next season, if you will just let us!”
I’m kind of obsessed with going through the collection of Solestruck lookbooks. Here are some shots from one that they created for their collaboration with Digs in Seattle.
For more information about Digs, including an interview with co-owner Gretchen Knudsen, take a look at my article and photographs on Seattle Refined.
