Sharing moments of my day on Instagram is nothing new for me, but actually thinking of each image as part of my daily story as a whole is something I only thought of yesterday during a morning walk. That seems crazy to me, since I specialize in storytelling, but it’s often the things that are right in front of us that we’re most blind to.
I decided to try an experiment where I documented three distinct parts of my day to relay that day’s story. Here’s mine for Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
If you work in a creative field, especially one that’s visual in nature, it’s super important to be sharing your work and bits of your life on the social media channels that you love most. If you don’t love any of them, pick one or two that you’re most comfortable with and share your story there. People want to hire or buy things from people that they “know,” even if you’ve never actually met in person. I’ve consulted on this topic at length and have put much of my knowledge and ideas into Share Your Story, Sell Your Work.
I’d love to see the stories of your day! If you’re on Instagram and you’d like to join in, use the hashtag #storyofmyday. If you like this idea, share it with your friends and invite them to join in too. xo
