I feel like it’s been a bit since I’ve checked in and shared what I’ve been working on, thinking about, and some of the changes I’m making to this blog. It seems like a good way to start the week.

Last week, after experiencing a bummer of a day, I started and finished a project that I’ve been wanting to do for years. I designed and wrote a book proposal. You can read more about how I was able to focus and stay motivated on this blog post for We Are The Contributors. This morning I sent it to an editorial contact at one of my dream publishers. Now it’s time to wait. I love this feeling – the feeling of possibility. This is what I felt like when my screenplay was making the rounds and I was pitching projects to magazines. I plan on devoting much more of my time and energy to projects that lead to feeling like this.

I’ve completed some graphic design projects that I’ll be able to share here once they’ve launched, and I’m excited about my potential new clients. There seems to be some fun design work on the horizon, including opportunities to create fashion lookbooks.

I’ve been having so much fun working for Seattle Refined. I just renewed my freelance contract with them and am looking forward to getting to know even more locals in Seattle’s amazing design and decor community over the upcoming months. I feel incredibly lucky to live here.

Mood Boards: Exploring Color and Emotion is a collection of mixed media collages and abstract paintings by Melanie Biehle.

I’m two weeks away from my first art show. On Saturday, April 12th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM I’ll be at the opening reception at Velouria in Ballard.

If you’re here, I’d love to see you at the event! Here’s an invitation

One more thing – I’ve disabled comments on my blog. You’ll see why at the end of this post.

When I look back at my life since I started Inward Facing Girl, it’s amazing to see how many things have changed. Not just my creative path, but my life as a whole. I became a wife and a mother. I set out to forge my own career path doing something that I hadn’t done before. I taught myself A LOT of skills and I’ve made SO MANY new, amazing, creative friends and co-conspirators. I feel extremely grateful for the life that I have and I’m so excited about what’s next. xo
