Well, not THIS. This intention is beautiful. I am crazy.
You guys…I can’t sleep. And since Drew is driving me to the airport in less than three hours, I’m not sure I see the point in it.
As usual, I had my pre-bedtime nap on the couch. It happens almost every night. But when I woke up to go to bed, I was wide awake. So of course I spent time creating my intention for the day using the lovely Cartolina Postale app. Duh.
Today I will see my world through artist eyes.
To me, that means I’ll notice things. I’ll pay attention to patterns. I’ll appreciate the details.
And lucky me, I get to do that in Palm Springs at the beautifully designed by Commune Ace Hotel & Swim Club surrounded by tons of creative friends. Camp Mighty, here I come! I’m so grateful to have a chance to go this year.
It’s nice to be going back a second time. I know the lay of the land, more about what to expect from the event, and I even know more people than I did last year. One of the things I loved about last year was that the vibe was so much more relaxed than other related events/conferences I’ve been to. I didn’t feel super rushed to make it to every session. I didn’t even feel like I HAD to go to everything. Then there was the whole California poolside sunshine vibe thing.
This year I’m planning to approach it from an even more relaxed place. You know, since that feeling of familiarity will already be there. Do you guys do that too? Once you get your bearings (what does that even mean, really), do you feel more comfortable doing something again? Do I have to check my bearings or can I take them in my carry on bag? OMG, I’m tired.
My plan is to not only to intentionally set a relaxed pace for myself every day, but to also spend time observing the details of the hotel, light, environment, colors, patterns, mood, design, decor, and all things visual. I’m going to take snapshots and make notes of the things that inspire me and use that inspiration to create more collages.
Another important thing for me on this trip is to get to know some of my creative friends better. It’s one thing to spend time chatting online, but I’m looking forward to hanging out and spending some in-person time with them. Walking away from these events being energized and inspired by all of the chats that you find yourself a part of is probably the best thing about retreats or conferences for creative people.
The energy and inspiration that comes along with being surrounded by likeminded creatives is such a powerful part of making your own art, writing your story, or photographing the world around you.
I’ll be writing about the trip and event when I get back next week, but in the meantime I’ll be sharing some of the fun on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Mostly Instagram. Look for the #campmighty hashtag to see more photos!
Have a great weekend! xoxo
