Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion at Seattle Art Museum

This week I got a sneak peek of an amazing new exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum – Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion. I loved that it mixed in outrageous outfits that I’d only appreciate in Vogue with functional, comfortable pieces that I’d actually love to own and wear all the time.

As much as I wanted to reach out and touch the fabrics, I didn’t. Man was it hard, though. Now I know how Nathaniel feels, like, always.

One of my favorite rooms contained large photographs of garments laid flat accompanied by the actual three-dimensional garment. The photos were taken by Naoya Hatakeyama and the clothing designed by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons.

A list of designers and more information about the exhibition, including how to purchase tickets, can be found on the Seattle Art Museum’s website. If you’re in town, you HAVE to see it. It’s so creative and unique.

Where I’ve Been This Week

Besides visiting the museum, I’ve been:

Writing about Sofia Coppola on SFGirlbyBay

Watching The Bling Ring

Eating lunch while reading  The Next Best Thing by Jennifer Weiner at Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge

Book proposal research at Elliott Bay Book Company

Getting ready to take Nathaniel camping for the first time! We’re going to Mount Rainier for one night.

Next week I’ll only be blogging on Friday, but will be sporadically spewing my thoughts and images throughout my other online homes. :) Feel free to follow me there.

“Yes, I had to jump from Twitter to e-mail to say that your book is amazeballs. Only halfway through and already my blog is looking better than a final four contestant on The Biggest Loser.”  – Suzan Colón

I love that.

Have a great weekend! xoxo
