Last week I met my brand new friend Moorea Seal in person for breakfast and chatting at a cozy little cafe in Ballard called The Fat Hen. Moorea is an extremely talented, creative, and passionate jewelry designer, blogger, and curator, and I feel so lucky that she’s right here in my city! We had so much fun hanging out and talking about the blogging world and the joy and frustration (“I want to do ALL the things!”) of being creative.
Moorea has been working on an amazing project called 52 Lists. Every Tuesday she serves up a brand new inspiring, fun, and/or thought-provoking topic that we can join in on by creating our own lists and linking them up with her post. Some of the list prompts she’s explored this year have been places you want to go, ways in which you can love others, and your greatest comforts, just to name a few. I love how she encourages us to stop, think, and put pen to paper. There’s something powerful about organizing your thoughts and getting stuff out of your head and into a tangible form.
Today is Week 10 and I’m participating in the cleansing for spring challenge. I didn’t really plan my list while I was making it, but most of the things ended up being related to technology. You guys know I’ve been thinking a lot about how we spend our time online, as bloggers, communicators, or consumers, and I’m trying to find ways to make it more manageable. I want to get rid of my online clutter – unsubscribe from email lists, unfollow Twitter feeds that I don’t care about, clean out my blog reader, reorganize my Pinterest boards, get my email accounts under control, and be more conscientious about putting my iPhone away more often, especially on weekends.
This week my challenge is: Taking charge of my email accounts (yes, ACCOUNTS) and showing them who’s boss! Not them anymore.
Another big cleansing thing that I’m focusing on this spring is for my body. I spend WAY too much time sitting in front of my computer and I’m determined to get out and move more. I’m happy to report (fine, maybe even bragging a little) that I excercised for the past three days! For me, that’s huge.
Then there’s the physical clutter in my space. It drives me crazy, but I always feel like I’m too busy to deal with it. If I make a little time each day or week to go through things in short bursts, I’ll get it done. Eventually. I just have to make it a priority.
Moorea, thanks again so much for this! It was so much fun to work on and I feel more organized and uncluttered already. xoxo
Okay, who’s making a spring cleaning list now? I want to see what you’re plans are! Use the hashtag #52lists2013 if you post your list on Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest. You can check out Moorea’s list here.
