Crushing on Computer Arts Collection Typography 2013

I can’t remember if I’ve geeked out enough about the Computer Arts Collection series or not. I found out about it last year from Nubby Twiglet and immediately subscribed.

To say I’m behind on my magazine reading would be an understatement. I’m basically in hoarding mode over here. But at least I’m surrounded by pretty issues of Kinfolk and UPPERCASE instead of wall-high stacks of decaying newspapers and crusty cat food tins.

However, I have been spending a lot of time with the Computer Arts Collection 2013 Typography issue. I’m only a little more than halfway through it, but here are some of my favorite things so far.

HypeForType is the UK foundry of Alex Haigh. I fell in love with F37 Bella by Rick Banks. It was exactly what I’d been thinking of when I was designing the perfect font for my workbook cover in my head, then there it was, right inside this issue.

Adriaan Mellegers Graphic Design was responsible for this “soft modern” identity for House of Bouw. I like the soothing color combination and clean modern look.

Temple did some fantastic work for the Australian sunglasses company Glare. This project was included in the “reduced type” section of this issue’s trend report.

F37 Bella has a stencil weight that I’m planning to try out on a project really soon.

And last but not least, if you’re a fan of Nubby Twiglet like me, check out her feature in the 2013 Graphic Design issue.

Oh, graphic design and typography…I’ll never quit you. xoxo
