Bradley Cooper Is So Much More Than A Pretty Face

The first time I saw Bradley Cooper he played Will Tippin on the J.J. Abrams Felicity follow-up, Alias. He was pretty and had piercing blue eyes and I liked him very much.

You can’t really argue that he’s not a good looking guy, right?

Since Alias I’d only seen him in comedies like The Hangover and All About Steve. He was funny and good looking and that’s really the only opinions I had of him as an actor. That completely changed when I saw the amazing Academy Award nominated movie Silver Linings Playbook

I loved this movie for lots of reasons, but a huge part of it was Bradley’s portrayal of Pat, a character diagnosed with bipolar disorder who is released from a psychiatric care facility and returns home to live with his parents. Pat eventually meets Tiffany, a depressed young widow played by Jennifer Lawrence. I heart her so much.

The acting, writing, chemistry between the two leads, and all the dancing scenes were fantastic. I’m not going to talk too much about the story because you should definitely see it for yourself. There are some great scenes in the trailer of the banter between Pat and Tiffany that made me crack up and an awesome scene where Pat completely freaks after finishing Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms that do a great job of showing the humor that I loved in this film. But it’s not all fun and games. Bradley Cooper proved that he has mad acting skills to go along with his pretty face, and he played the emotional, touching, agonizing parts of the story extremely well.

Silver Linings Playbook has been nominated for eight Academy Awards this year: Best Picture, Best Director (David O. Russell), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Bradley Cooper), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jennifer Lawrence), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Robert De Niro), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Jacki Weaver), Best Adapted Screenplay (David O. Russell), Best Film Editing (Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers), and Best Animated Short Film (just seeing if you’re still paying attention).

Are you going to watch the Oscars this year? Who are you rooting for?

P.S. Yes, this is a sponsored post, but as always, what I say is completely from my own, non-monetized brain. I really have to hand it to Bing on the functionality of their image search. I like being able to flip through all those Bradley Coopers with ease and arrow buttons, and I love the different view options of individual photos. It looks really nice. I will admit that my default image search has always been Google, but this experience has changed me!
