Nichole DeMent
I was looking at the CoCA Seattle site and learned about Seattle-based artist Nichole DeMent. She mixes photography and encaustic painting to make hauntingly beautful work like this.
I’ve never seen Nichole’s work in person, but now I want to.
Bernadette Pascua | Decade Diary
Illustrator Bernadette Pascua creates some of the coolest illustrations and collages that I’ve ever seen, and she shares a lot of them with us on her illustrated blog, Decade Diary.
I’m not even sure if I should give you any more links, because you’re going to get sucked in to this artist’s world and it might be hard to pull yourself out. I know it was for me! But here’s a link to Bernadette’s Flickr photostream, in case you want more.
Seriously. Just now I had to stop myself from looking at more of her work. Good luck!
Hip Kids Magazines
Have you seen the magazines for fashionable littles out there these days? Wow! They’re cultivating quite the mini-fashionistas. I want some of their outfits and room designs…for me! Here are a few lovely ones for you to take a look at when you have a chance.
You can buy Babiekins here.
You can find MilK and Papier Mache at the very awesome Human Empire Shop.
Alternative Apparel
When my friend Barbara visits from Hamburg, we shop. This year I ended up with several things that were made by/with Alternative Apparel.
If you’re looking for new leggings, the Alternative Apparel skinny leggings are really soft and comfortable. They’re thin though, so make sure you put enough layers over them.
Phil Noto
Phil Noto is a comic book artist who I first learned about during my obsession with hats with ears. I saw his awesome drawing of Batgirl on his Tumblr site, Your Nice New Outfit. Then I found Wonder Woman and yet another girl wearing ears.
And then…and then…
Sigh. I miss Mad Men.
