What would your life be like without running water? We all need it to survive, and yet nearly one billion people in the world don’t have access to safe water. 2.5 billion don’t have access to a toilet. And a staggering fact that brought tears to my eyes:
Every twenty seconds one child dies from a water-related illness. Diarrhea is the second leading cause of death among children under five in the world. Around 1.5 million deaths each year – nearly one in five – are caused by diarrhea. It kills more children than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined.
When you think about the numbers, you may feel powerless against a problem so big. But there is something we can all do to help.
For the next ten days I’m joining with other members of The Mission List to work with Water.org to raise awareness and money to help provide safe water across the world. Your gift of $25 will give one person water for life. My goal forthe next ten days will be trying to raise enough money to help change the lives of ten people.
Will you help me? Donate to my fundraiser, start your own, spread the word through social media (just click any of my social media buttons below to do this in two seconds), or just take the time to learn more about the water crisis and educate others.
I’ll include a little reminder at the bottom of each of my blog posts throughout our campaign. I know that we can make a real difference. I know that we have the power to make a child’s life better.
