You’re My Obsession: The Collage Edition

Claudine Hellmuth

This week I started my four week Composition for Collage class with Claudine Hellmuth. I’m a little behind schedule because I’ve been on vacation and catching up from vacation, but I’ve completed my assignment from week one and will watch the lessons and complete the homework from week two soon. I’m really enjoying the class so far! Claudine’s collages are whimsical and colorful, and even include one of my very favorite things.

Joseph Cornell

Through Claudine’s class I learned about collage and assemblage pioneer Joseph Cornell (as far as I know, he’s not related to Kristie Cornell). Note to Kristie: :) He’s most known for his boxed assemblages created from found objects.

CLESS

Thanks to the Winter 2010-2011 issue of Elephant Magazine, I learned about CLESS, a graffiti artist who also creates mixed media collages. Such cool work.

Clara Mata

Elephant Magazine also introduced me to Clara Mata. Here are some of my favorite collages by Clara.

Melanie Biehle

Here’s my week one assignment for the collage composition class I’m taking. We made asymmetrical collages and I titled mine What A Girl Wants. I’d love to know what you think! xo
