I usually keep my wedding-related posts on the Bella Umbrella blog, but today I wanted to celebrate Wedding Wednesday by featuring my dear friend’s awesome DIY crafty cool vintage picnic inspired wedding. Obviously I’m really good at succinctly describing weddings.
Drew, Nathaniel and I drove down to Olympia on Saturday August 25th and attended Georgia and Karl’s beautiful celebration held at Karl’s mother’s lovely home.
The weather cooperated beautifully, which made for an even better outdoor celebration. Georgia and I have been talking about her wedding for months, so I knew about some of the details, but to actually see them come together was incredible. Note: See all of the lovely bunting everywhere? SHE SEWED IT.
Georgia’s mom’s partner officiated the wedding and made limoncello for everyone to take home. Yes…I said that she MADE it.
Look at my beautiful and stylish friend. Seriously. She was glowing! And of course a family member MADE her dress. Geez!
Karl has a lot of tattoos. Nathaniel was totally digging them. He’s into tattoos these days. Georgia and Karl got awesome matching tattoos to celebrate their wedding.
I didn’t get a chance to photograph Karl’s tattoo, but here’s a photo of his dapper bow tie.
I love how they incorporated their family into their decorations, like this row of family wedding gowns and photographs. Amazing.
Then there was the food, starting with this cool, colorful candy bar stocked with all kinds of treats.
We had such a great time. I thought we’d never get Nathaniel off the dance floor! His note from daycare on Monday said that he told wedding stories to all of his friends that day.
I’m so grateful to have been able to be a part of their special day, and I’m seriously astounded by all of the things they put together. If you’re anything like me, you’d either skip the wedding and jet off to Italy or hire Shindig Events or Bow Tie & Bustle to help you create your dream wedding.
Past brides, what was your wedding like? Did you hire a coordinator or manage the details yourself? What would you do differently? xo
