Letting It All Sink In
Alt Summit may be over, but the work on Inward Facing Girl has just begun.
I learned so much at this conference that I could barely talk about it when I got home. Today I’m going to go through my notes and make a plan for all of the changes I want to make and get started! Don’t worry, I’ll let you know about the big stuff.
Lessons from Alt
I’m going to be sharing some of the things I’ve learned (and who I learned them from), but rather than try to summarize them into one (seemingly neverending) post, I’m going to break them up into byte-sized pieces (Dude…am I clever or what?) in a brand new series called Lessons from Alt.
Don’t worry, non-Alt fans. I’m not going to be all Alt, all the time. There will be plenty of other things for you. I’ll leave the heavy duty Alting to the pros at…
The Alt Channel
One of the most exciting announcements at the conference was the introduction of the Alt Channel, launching in February. You’ll be able to take classes from brilliant and inspiring people like Erin Loechner, Laurie Smithwick, Laura Mayes, Liz Stanley, and more(!), all year long.
I learned so much from the pre-conference sessions and I am so incredibly excited that we’re going to be able to have access to knowlege like this throughout the year. Plus, you meet tons of cool people when chatting during the sessions, and you can hook up with them later on Twitter or, if you’re super lucky, in real life.
The Funniest Thing I Overheard
While walking into the Winter Wonderland party (AKA Diner en Blanc, AKA the White Party), I heard a woman say: “I feel like I’ve crossed over to the other island in Lost.”
A Lot of Hugging
One of the very best things about this conference was being able to meet people I’ve been chatting with online for the past year and bloggers that I admire and hug them. There are some awesome huggers out there, including Sarah, Erin, Heather, Helena, Brianne, Megan, Gabrielle, Anne, Leslie, Jill, and Uncle Beefy. I love hugs. #hugsummit
