Last weekend, Drew and I bundled up Nathaniel and cruised over to the Central District (or Capitol Hill…not exactly sure where that line falls) to try the brunch offerings at Skillet Diner, the brick-and-mortar offshoot of the popular Skillet Street Food.
It’s such a well-designed space, and the plaid-shirted staff adds a nice Pacific Northwest touch. As I told Drew, just because I like to constantly remind him of/annoy him with my mad crush, “It seems like a place you’d find in Portland.”
It’s a popular restaurant and we were out later than usual (around 11:00 instead of 9:30), so there was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it. Drew, Nathaniel, and I shared part of a delicious cinnamon roll. It was so huge that we couldn’t even finish it. You know how we love our sweets! I tried their special scramble of the day which featured chanterelle mushrooms, spinach, and cheddar cheese served on top of a slice of brioche with a yummy side salad. Loved it.
Definitely worth trying if you’re here for a visit. If you live here and you haven’t gone yet, don’t talk to me until you do.
