My day care is on winter break. And we still have to pay them for this week…don’t even get me started. Therefore, here are some of my Christmas photos, just in time for 2012, at 2:30 PM.
We kicked off Christmas Eve with brunch at Local 360 in Belltown. Drew and Nathaniel had been there before for a boys brunch while I was at a photography workshop, but this was my first visit. Drew and I shared a scramble with cheddar cheese and carmelized onions, home fries, and a biscuit, and an order of malted pancakes. The food was delicious, the waitstaff was super friendly, and I loved the atmosphere.
Note: Yes, I’ve already used this adorable photo of Nathaniel, but you may have missed it the first time.
Later, we stopped by Westlake Center to see the giant Christmas tree before meeting our friends David and Alan for Christmas Eve dinner at Andaluca. They have a great Mediterranean tasting menu, and my choices were the Tuscan tomato bread soup, pear salad, pumpkin risotto, potato croquette, and liquid chocolate cake. Amazing food, and another awesome waitstaff experience. Nathaniel started screaming right before dinner and one of the employees gave him a snowman ornament from their Christmas tree.
Note: The poor little guy apparently had a tooth push through his gum right at that exact moment. He was all cool and laughing, then all of a sudden IN TEARS and screaming. We thought that might be the problem, so we checked his mouth and found the tiny jagged white culprit. Way to be a beeyotch, Tooth Fairy. Jealous of Santa much?
Christmas morning was lots of fun. Nathaniel got a tricycle, some cooking stuff, cars, a table and chair, a moose sleeping bag, and much more! It was so funny to watch his reaction and see how slowly he got around to opening everything. I’m savoring these days while I can because it won’t be long before he’s ripping through gifts like a Tasmanian devil.
We ended our day with taking Nathaniel to Gas Works Park to test out his tricycle (or his “bike,” as he calls it). He seemed to really enjoy riding it. Plus, there were puddles to stomp in.
Next week I will be back to posting my entries at my usual crack of dawn times and I will feel less crazy. Something to look forward to!
Happy New Year! xoxo
