One of the things that I really missed about Seattle when I lived in Los Angeles was the coffee shop culture. Not that L.A. didn’t have coffee shops, but stopping by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Starbucks, or Peet’s was much more common than spending a leisurely hour or two hanging out in a cozy coffee shop or café.
Maybe it’s the sunshine, or maybe it’s that there are miles between most of the specialty coffee shops in L.A. and by the time you get to one you’re so annoyed by the traffic that the extra caffeine just makes you more pissed off. Lucky me, I have tons of coffee shops within walking distance from my Seattle apartment.
The super close ones (10 minute walk or less) are Tully’s (gross), Peet’s, Starbucks, Caffe Ladro, Fremont Coffee Company, Canal Street Coffee, ETG, and this relatively new gem, Milstead & Co.
Andrew Milstead knows his coffee. When you have coffee here, you get to have a pleasant, relaxing, delicious coffee experience and learn something. Plus, Andrew is super friendly and the space is open and roomy.
