You’re My Obsession: October 3-9, 2011

October 2011

In the Make
You guys know how I’m obsessed with websites and books that feature the work/living spaces of creative people, right? No? See exhibits A and B.

Thanks to one of my favorite bloggers, I learned about a newish website that showcases the spaces where artists and other creative types work their magic.

In the Make was created by writer Nikki Grattan and photographer Klea McKenna and is based in San Francisco. Right now they’re focusing on Bay Area artists, including Christine Keslar, Zina Al-Shukri, and Christina Empedocles.

Quarterly
You guys know how much I love getting packages in the mail, right?

Have you heard about Quarterly? It’s a pretty cool concept.

You pay $25 a quarter to subscribe to one of their contributors (aka, an interesting person with good taste) and you’ll get a thoughtful package from the person of your choice every three months.

For instance, one of their current contributors is Tina Roth Eisenberg, founder of Swissmiss. If you subscribe to Tina, you’ll get some cool, minimalist items for your desk or workspace.

I can’t wait to see who else we’ll be able to subscribe to in the future. Hey Quarterly, I’m thinking that anyone on this list would be a great choice.

Art by The Ink Society
You guys know how much I love typography as art, right?

Well, I’m seriously digging these prints by Portland’s own The Ink Society. And last night I saw on Twitter that they’re having a sale.

If you’re wondering what to send me for my birthday (cough, cough…December 1st…cough cough), here’s an idea

Pantone Xmas Balls, iPhone Cases, and Book
You guys know how much I super heart everything Pantone, right?

Thanks to three of my favorite online destinations, Design CrushMatchbook Magazine, and Chronicle Books, I learned about some super cool Pantone products that I should totally own someday. Someday soon.

Hidden Animal Cereal Bowls
You guys know how much I adore $317 cereal bowls, right?

Wait…wtf?!?!

Sigh. How I wish I had $317 to spend on a cereal bowl by Geraldine de Beco, because these are some of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Thanks a lot, My Modern Metropolis. You’ve made my cereal bowls suck.

And I’ll leave you with this, my friends. Don’t forget I have a birthday coming up. The bird and the cat bowls are my favorites. xo
