Watching Nathaniel Walk and Being So Excited for Him

He’s having so much fun! He’s so proud of himself and we’re so proud of him. :)

Date Night
You guys, seriously…having a baby will change your life. Most of those changes are super awesome amazing. I mean, do you see that kid up there? Have you met him? However, a few of them suck, like having to schedule date nights.

Gone are the days of impromptu afternoons at the movies or deciding to go out for Thai food after 7:00 PM. Now if we want to go somewhere, we have to schedule a babysitter in advance and pay by the hour for our freedom.

On Saturday night, Drew and I had a super fun much needed night out. First, we had a chance to try the Golden Beetle in Ballard. We shared a few small plates, and of the things we had we liked the flatbread and dips and roasted tomato soup the best. My favorite was one of the dips I’d never tried before, the Muhammara – a blend of walnut, pomegranate molasses, and olive oil. Delicious. I also really enjoyed the Cooper Hill Pinot Noir.

After dinner we headed over to the Neptune, which has evolved from movie theater where I saw The Blair Witch Project to a live performance venue where we saw Michael Ian Black. He was hilarious, just as I expected. Comedy Central shouldn’t have cancelled Michael and Michael Have Issues, Taco Bell should have made him their spokesperson, and he should really join the cast of The League. He’d be perfect for that show.

Hugo
I now learn about movies solely from Drew. Since I no longer work in film and we really don’t see movies in the theater too often (see second obsession), I don’t watch nearly as many trailers as I used to and I never ever know what’s playing.

The latest trailer he shared with me is for a movie called Hugo, based on a cool book that I have yet to read, The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. I remember looking through this book when Drew was reading it and it looks amazing. One day I will read all of the books that I want to read. ALL of the books.

The movie looks great and I can’t wait to see it! Definitely in a theater, because it’s in 3D.

My Mighty Life List
This week I added a new page to my blog – my Mighty Life List. I get excited when I think of something that I want to add to the list, and happy when I do something or something happens that moves me toward fulfilling an item on my list.

So far I’ve mailed a gift to one person that may inspire or encourage her to tackle one of her Mighty Life List items. Also, thanks to just happening to sit next to a friendly and interesting woman at breakfast a couple of weeks ago, on Sunday morning I met one, two, three inspiring and creative women for coffee, chatting, and writing time – and they all live in Seattle!

The Secret Circle
So far I’ve only had a chance to watch the first episode of this show, but I love it already. I’m glad Lux is on another good show. Hopefully this one will make it.
