Art I Heart: Six Pieces of Art in Six Months

This summer when Barbara and Felix were here, we went to the Urban Craft Uprising show and I bought this cool print by Portland artist Mary Kate McDevitt.

Last night I finally got around to buying a frame for it. It only took two months. I wonder how long it will take me to actually hang it.

As you guys know, I ♥ lots of art. I’m just really slow about buying it and framing it, and have limited space for displaying it. I also don’t have tons of room in my budget for art.

All that being said, I’m making a deal with myself. Over the next six months I will buy six pieces of art that either a) I’ve been lusting over for months (at least) or b) a new piece that I see and feel a strong creative or emotional reaction to. Starting today.

September’s piece of art is…

Oh Darling, Let’s Be Adventurers by Fifi du Vie (aka Izabella Dennis).

Sigh…I love this one. The first time I saw it I swear I could feel my face light up because it reminded me of my relationship with Drew.

I’ve had my eye on this print for at least 15 weeks. I know this because I first saw it on Pinterest and Pinterest told me that I repinned it 15 weeks ago. Duh.

Another cool thing is that when I bought this I was 90 minutes shy of the deadline for 25% of my purchase to go to the American Red Cross of Central Texas to help victims of the fires around Austin. That’s another reason that makes me super glad that I chose this moment to start my six-month art collection.

So, yay art! If this post inspires you to buy that piece you’ve been wishing for, let me know. xo
