Moving on Up

“…to the west side. To a deeeeluxe apartment in the sky-hi.”

No. I’m not moving again. Not for at least another year or two. Then we SERIOUSLY have to get more space. SERIOUSLY. Or I’m going to go slowly insane in my living room/office/dining room/kitchen/laundry room filled with primary colored child objects. But we’ll save craziness for another day.

I wanted to share my new workspace with you guys. Our office moved over the weekend. We’re not too far from where we were before, but the space is a lot nicer and we’re more downtown than we were before. It’s also closer to my bus stop, which means I’m going to be walking less. Note to self: Use gym on 4th floor. Note to self: Make sure gym is actually on the 4th floor. Note to self: Find gym.

First, let’s start with a design “don’t.”

They have these fabulous orange chairs. I love them. But why would they mix them with the rest of that furniture? And the paint and carpet? Where’s Jonathan Adler or Emily Henderson when you need them?

Moving on to the rest of the lobby.

The boxy ivory furniture is better than the brown furniture with baby poop cushions, but is still disrespectful to those fabulous orange chairs hanging out by the fish tank.

I like the fish tank a lot.

I like the “Welcome to your new office!” boxes of Top Pot Doughnuts a whole lot.

Laura and Georgia like them too.

Michelle is smiling and she doesn’t even know about the Top Pot Doughnuts yet! She must just be happy to see me.

On to my workspace (a.k.a. shrine to Nathaniel).

Check out that photo. Drew got that for me to “show me what he thinks about all day.” Don’t gag, it’s sweet. I heart him.

My dream is to have a job that uses Apple computers.

My workspace isn’t covered with celebrities like it was when I worked in “the biz,” but I HAD to hang my autographed photo of Jeffrey Dean Morgan on the front of my “locker.”

My friend Phil did the cool linocut print of Nathaniel. Check him out on Phillustrations if you’d like to have him create one for you. Tell him that Melanie sent you and that he should make me lots of art in return.

My friend Kenny would be proud that our building is LEED certified.
